S2. Ep. 8 Let’s Dig Into That a Little Bit ft. Roddy Bottum
You might know our special guest from Imperial Teen or Faith No More and he’s been making music during quarantine! Roddy Bottum joins us to tell us all about the new project called Man on Man with his partner Joey Holman and we find out all about the making of their self titled album available May 12th, 2021. Roddy explains how he and Joey became “icons of body positivity” with the release of the video for their new song Daddy. There are a ton of super gay songs including one about The Vale of Cashmere in Prospect Park. Along with their album they are launching a project called Chosen Family to create a real world connection with friends and fans and family. You can check out their website ManonManMusic.com and check out the album and join the Chosen Family (including the optional pen pal program) to connect with the music and the love. Then we talk about Roddy’s time recording and touring with Faith No More and the pandemic-delayed reunion tour. We try to make a determination about the term “nu” and ask the important questions such as “is Korn is retro now?” Heklina asks him all about opening up for Guns n’ Roses and the debauchery (and mysticism?) on the Use Your Illusions Tour. Marc insists on finding out more about Roddy writing Sasquatch, The Opera and his love for monsters with hearts of gold.
S2. Ep. 2 YESTERBATION ft. CHRISTEENE
CHRISTEENE! tells us all about living in New York, spending time with creative friends, and making some new music with folks like Roddy Bottum, Fever Ray, and John Grant. We hear about going on tour with Peaches (the famous one) and working with audiences in the UK. Then we talk about internet call-outs and getting to the bottom of being a human being. We discuss Heklina’s favorite memory of CHRISTEENE. Here’s a hint: it involves the Queen Mary ship and Murder She Wrote! This episode is straight outta Jessica Fletcher’s a-hole!
S1. Ep. 29 PICKLE REVEAL ft. Miz Cracker
We have Miz Cracker and she tells us about touring her show ‘She’s a Woman’ all across the US and Canada (as soon as it is safe) and we find out about how she became an advocate and activist for women’s rights. We ask Miz Cracker about her take on misogyny in the world of drag. Then Marc’s High School Drama club can’t help but try to stir the Drag Race pot and we have to know about Miz Cracker’s favorite lip synchs and least favorite eliminations.
Miz Cracker’s song ‘Eight Days of You’ ft. Jujubee is featured with permission by the artist.
S1. Ep. 25 I Want to Taste Your Cornbread ft. Cindy Wilson
We can hardly contain ourselves because we have the B-52’s Cindy Wilson on Drag Time with Heklina! We find out what Cindy is up in Athens, Georgia while we wait for the world to begin again. First, we hear from her cow Lollipop! Then Cindy tells us about the joy of creating music with her brother Ricky Wilson and the rest of the B-52’s. Marc’s High School Drama Club has questions! Find out what is behind that iconic line “Tin Roof, Rusted!” and what the B’s really thought about working with a fellow Georgian, RuPaul, on the “Love Shack” video. Then we remember Ricky. Cindy is in the kitchen with two recipes including hot-iron-skillet-banana-cornbread! Hold the sugar please! Then she tells us all about how to make and responsibly enjoy her “Terence McKenna Iced Tea”...just a tip for the listeners, one woman’s micro-dose is another woman’s weird day!
